Afghan Woman Journalist Union (AWJU) has established- with support of a small fund from UN Women-through inaugurating meeting and conference on March 8th 2005 celebration.
From 2005 to 2012 the Union has conducted several workshops and training courses for afghan women journalists from Kabul and provinces. The main objectives of trainings were  to build women journalists capacity and role for public awareness raising through program production and writing articles about women’s rights, elimination of discrimination and violence against women and  women’s encouragement for political participation to take over key and decision making positions  in the government.
Summary Introduction of AWJU:
Afghan Women Journalist Union (AWJU) is a professional social Union in the ‎field of Journalism in Afghanistan, and it represents the journalist women, ‎electronic, press and educational organization in Afghanistan.‎ ‎; it also represents Afghan women journalists in internal and external societies. ‎
AWJU is officially registered with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan since 2011 including its statue 11 founders and president.

AWJU will try its best to provide educational opportunities for its members
AWJU follows the contents of Afghanistan Constitution; it respects the universal declaration of human right and charter of United Nation. ‎ the Union has more than 200 active members from Kabul and ‎‎provinces media ‎

Administrative Structure of Afghanistan Women Journalist Union AWJU:
It has four Pillars as following:
• General Assembly
• Board of Directory
• Executive  Board
• Provincial Departments
• Professional Committees ‎
AWJU has the following Professional committees in Kabul
• Education Committee
• Juridical Committee
• Journalism Research Committee
• General relation and broadcasting committee

AWJU has provincial Deportment  in Herat, Balkh, Bamian, Kondoz and Takhar.

When we got the license from the ministry of justice of Islamic republic of Afghanistan then we invited the general assembly to introduce the UNION and the license for them, and to complete the formation of the Union, In order to defend from Journalist women rights in Media.In the opening day AWJU will explain defending from the rights of journalist women as follow:
• Who work for Governmental or private Medias and are fired illegally and men are hired instead of them.
• Who don’t receive their salaries.
• When the management of the Medias have misbehavior with them. And AWJU has license to continue its activities.
